Overview
Flow Diagram ("Flow Diagram", "the app") is an application for Mac and iPad developed by PointBlue Technology. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data Flow Diagram does and does not collect, and what happens when you use its optional Apple Intelligence features.
The short version: Flow Diagram does not collect, transmit, or store your data on our servers. Your diagrams stay on your devices. The only time anything leaves your device is when you choose to import a picture or tidy a sketch with Apple Intelligence, which Apple processes privately as described below.
Data Collection
Flow Diagram does not collect any personal data about you. Specifically:
- No personal information is collected, requested, or stored by us.
- No usage analytics or telemetry are collected by PointBlue Technology. Flow Diagram contains no analytics frameworks, no advertising, and no crash-reporting services.
- No account is required to use Flow Diagram.
- No cookies or advertising identifiers are used, and Flow Diagram does not track you across apps or websites.
- PointBlue Technology operates no servers that receive your diagrams, pictures or documents.
Your Diagrams & Local Storage
- Documents are plain text files (.flow, .msd, .mmd) saved in locations you choose, including iCloud Drive if you keep them there, through the standard Apple document system.
- Exports (SVG, PNG, PDF, OmniGraffle) are written only where you save them.
- Quick Look and Spotlight previews and indexing are performed by the system on your own device.
- Preferences are stored locally and never leave your device.
Camera, Photos & Apple Pencil
On iPad, Flow Diagram uses the camera only when you choose Take Photo or Scan Whiteboard or Paper, and reads a photo only when you pick one. Pencil sketches and handwriting are recognised on your device. Pictures are used only to create a diagram and are not stored by the app.
Apple Intelligence (Private Cloud Compute)
Import from Picture and Tidy with AI use Apple's Foundation Models with Private Cloud Compute. When you use these features, the picture (and, for Tidy, the diagram's text) is sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers to be converted. Apple processes it without retaining it, and it is never sent to PointBlue Technology or any other party. See Apple's description of Private Cloud Compute. If you don't use these features, nothing is sent.
fdiag and AI Agents
The optional, free fdiag command-line tool runs on your own Mac with the files you give it. It has no network features, sends nothing to PointBlue Technology, and its MCP server communicates only with the AI agent you run locally.
Third-Party Services
Flow Diagram does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection services. The only external service it contacts is Apple's Private Cloud Compute, and only when you use the Apple Intelligence features above.
Children's Privacy
Flow Diagram does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app has no accounts and no social features.
App Store
When Flow Diagram is distributed through the App Store, Apple may collect data related to your purchase and download as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. PointBlue Technology does not have access to any purchase or download data that identifies individual users. If you install a TestFlight beta, crash reports and feedback you choose to send through TestFlight are shared with us to improve the app.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
